The Mission in Iquitos

Explore the comprehensive selection of services offered by the Parish of San Martin De Porres, under the leadership of Fr Raymond Portelli.

01

Parish life

First of all this is a parish and Fr Raymond Portelli is a Roman Catholic priest. He leads the parish and makes sure that he caters for every person’s religious needs.

02

Talita Kumi – Rehab Programme

A three-tiered addictions rehabilitation programme offered to males who want to get out of the grasp of any addiction. The first stage is in a newly bought house a few metres away from the parish church, while the last two stages are carried out in houses which are further out into the countryside.

03

Algo Bello Para Dios – Hospice

Share some details here for Service three. This is a flexible section where you can share anything you want. It could be details or some information about your services.

04

Santa Rosa De Lima – Seniors’ Home

This home for the elderly has just been re-opened after a complete reconstruction. It now houses up to 30 people over three floors.

05

Casa Betania

A night shelter for homeless males. End users come to the shelter when it opens at night and have to vacate the premises in the morning. Users are not only provided with a soft bed, but are also given a good breakfast.

06

Parish Health Centre

Free primary healthcare centre including medical clinic, dental clinic, medical lab, pharmacy and psychologist. This health centre is the lifeline for so many people who cannot afford healthcare.

07

River service – religious and medical

Twice every month, Fr Raymond Portelli visits isolated communities within the Amazonian rainforest along the Amazon, Nanay and Itaya rivers. He provides them with medical check ups and medications. At night, he celebrates mass for the community. For the inhabitants of these villages, Fr Portelli’s visit might be the only chance they have in a year to see a doctor and to hear mass.
